Welcome to Audacity PD!

This session will provide a chance to build on existing skills by working collaboratively on a project of choice. Some possible projects could be recording a welcome to a new form student or an introduction to a course.

This wiki is read / write web which means that you can change and add to it by clicking edit.

The plan

  • Work together in groups. Set up your groups by adding your name next to the groups below:
    • Forks group - Crystelle, name1, name2 etc...
    • Knives group
    • Spoons group
  • Decide on your project.
  • CSR1 should be available and will provide a quiet place to make recordings (perhaps the video conference room also).
  • The idea is that you will work in groups on your project and then report back to the group in share what you have learnt.
  • To help you get started you might like to watch the Audacity Tutorials linked on the resources page.
  • A page has been created for each group on this wiki. Attach your voice recording to your page and make notes of anything useful you have found.
  • Use the comment facility to comment on at least two other groups' contributions.

Things to explore

    • Expert jigsaw: put your group name next to at least 2 of these effects. Find out what you can about these effects and then report back to the larger group about what you have found.
      • Change pitch
      • Change speed
      • Change tempo
      • Compressor
      • Echo
      • Repeat
      • Reverse
      • Normalise
      • Noise removal
    • Adding music and using faze in and faze out effects.
    • Increasing and decreasing your mic input level depending on the volume of your voice.
    • Editing your recording to remove umms and r's etc.
    • Inserting silence
